Partners
The partnership between St. Timothy's and Mama Hope started in May 2009. The first Mama Hope advocate, Lucia Cranshaw, who formerly volunteered at the school via Cross Cultural Solutions, was the cause of our partnership.
Lucia was looking for a charity organization that would help her fundraise for at least four classrooms so that St. Timothy's could be officially registered. She was then linked to Nyla, the director of Mama Hope. Nyla and Lucia headed to Isiold-Kenya to visit one of the Mama Hope partners.
They decided to visit St. Timothy's and agreed to start the partnership. At that time there were not any buildings or any sources of water. We started cleaning the thorn bushes and sodom apples.
Lucia helped a lot not only in fundraising for classroom construction, but also in sending the reports to the donors in order to encourage them to continue fundraising.
After Lucia, Mama Hope continued sending other advocates to St. Timothy's. All the advocates from Mama Hope were unique, committed to their work, with high integrity and passion.
The following is a list of advocates and the work done by them:
1. Rebecca Illiot and Stephanie Amaya, they both fundraised for completion of the boarding home, water, electricity, plastering, doors and windows.
2.Brandie Heinel - fundraised for two classrooms
3. Martina Tomassini - fundraised for classrooms
4. Tom Kubik - fundraised for classrooms
5. Hannah Clyne - fundraised for solar power
6. Katie Hale - fundraised for two classrooms
7. Toby Childs - Fundraised for two classrooms, two offices, and a big school bus
8. Erin Le Moine - Fundraised for the pillars and the foundation of the multi-purpose hall
9. Thomas Veazey - fundraised for a classroom and a granary
